tnxs for sharing ur story my friend , it does clear the most part specially for a first timer like me..the only question i have i gez is that with or without a broker i have to wait for their notice before i fly to BC ? even if the ship has already docked ?

Sorry about the late reply, fell off my radar.
RHDs are ok to be safetied in Manitoba…. but dealerships are probably not the best place to go. You do need to swap the headlights so they say SAE or DOT, and the seatbelts too. MPI has backed off a bit on the requirements for non-headlight lighting.

Robert, I was hoping you could provide me with an update to your discussions with MPI.

I recently agreed to purchase a right hand drive Toyota that is currently registered in MB, and had been imported from Japan several years back.

The owner took the vehicle to a local Toyota dealership to get safetied and to his dismay, was told that MPI had changed the “rules” in the last 3 weeks and right hand drive vehicles could no longer be safetied. As such, he could continue driving it, but could not sell it! Understandably, the owner is very upset – I in turn am very disappointed.

Nonetheless, I’m hoping to speak with MPI to determine if this is in fact their position. Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Best, Cor

That Mazda encapsulates absolutely every design trend that made me love 90’s Japan.

I’d like to see one with comically wide over-fenders and a tiny GT wing.

I don’t think such a thing exists, or is required anywhere (that I know of). It’s surprisingly easy to just jump into an RHD and just giv’r.

Does anyone know where to find an instructional manual or driving skills for right hand drive vehicles. Along the lines of a driving school or DMV course???

Hey Rob, there is a ’91 Figaro at the MPI auction Oct. 31. Slight fender-bender damage, and they deemed it Irrepairable!!! because it is older than the ’95 cut off date. (supposed to eliminate old, gas guzzling, polluting beaters). There is an exemption for “classics” but the “salvage manager” doesn’t consider it a classic. Who gave that one ASS HOLE the power to decide what is and isn’t a “classic”? Typical government monopoly.
